our furry friends.
We have some furry friends that live on our bedroom balcony. Just below them and a little out of the line of fire is our clothes-drying rack.
There are few things I hate more than bats. I mean, have you seen a bat up close?
Look at those beady little eyes. Look at that outstretched arm and those human fingers. Look at their fur.
Bats are so creepy. They know things.
David tried hitting at them with a stick to make them move and was chased ferociously back into the house.
I don’t think either of us is brave enough to continue the fight, so we have made uneasy peace with these little monsters. They keep to themselves and we keep to ourselves.
And I look around very carefully every time I step outside to hang out the laundry.
Cobra checks on the playground.
Bat checks on the balcony.
No one should have to put up with this!
But every time I’m tempted to feel sorry for myself, I think about Maggie.

I have a friend who is a PhD in bat reproduction. Bats are common in O- they were in our church and homes of friends, and my sweet friend would come in and whisk them out and relocate them to her bat house. And we’d hear all about how important bats are and bug control and all that…
But the teeth.
And the wings.
I prefer geckos. 🙂

Oh Kristy, I cannot imagine i more horrifying job! But, yes, it does help to remember there are bats at home in the U.S. too.

Ugh! They are creepy, but remember they eat mosquitoes. My son lived in India for a year and was told that some mosquitoes are active at night, others in the day. You need those bats! Love your blog.
