s. asia,  the kids

miss pea.

Miss Amelie is every bit the two-year-old all of a sudden.  Fiercely independent, she wants to do everything by herself.  Frequent temper tantrums result when she figures out this is impossible.  Blood-curdling screams when her brother bothers her (which, sadly, happens often).  Never-ending questions of “What’s that?” and exclamations of “Mines!

This kid wants to be where the action is, and wails whenever she is left behind.  But she’s good at playing quietly and entertaining herself too.  She is a true girl, with random outbursts of emotion that sometimes leave all of us scratching our heads.

To quote my mother-in-law: “One thing I appreciate about Amie is that you never wonder what she’s feeling.”

She loves dolls and tea parties and wearing pretty dresses.  She loves trains and wrestling and can name all of the characters in Cars.  She loves to dance and to “ride Bullseye” (gallop around the house) and to laugh.

She’s got those Gentino brown eyes that I love and Italian tan, but otherwise seems to favor her mama’s side of the family.  Old pictures show a resemblance between Amie and her uncle Kenny.

She eats spicy South Asian food, drinks as much hot tea and coffee as she can sneak past us, and hates to be picked up or cuddled (unless she initiates it).  But she is very affectionate when the mood is right and gives great bear hugs.  She’s an unprejudiced animal-lover and has tried to kiss bugs, roaches, and a headless rat on the sidewalk.

A great sleeper, a great eater, and endlessly entertaining.

We sure love you, Amie Pea.
