2020-21 school year: curriculum.
You may notice that I don’t include Bible as a school subject, although we do Scripture memory together. The two older kids read their Bible each morning; David assigns different books and they meet from time to time to discuss their readings with him. We are starting this new edition of Pilgrim’s Progress together as a family in the evenings.

Noah: 2nd grade
Math: Saxon 2
Grammar: First Language Lessons, Level 1
Penmanship: Draw Write Now
Phonics: Explode the Code
Spelling: Purposeful Design Spelling 2 (we quickly realized this book is a little advanced for where he is with spelling, so his homeschool counselor is allowing me to use his Explode the Code phonics lists as his spelling lists for now)
Reading: Pathway readers (after years of doing reading with my kids, I’ve decided I prefer the All About Reading readers, but as Noah’s my last beginning reader, I don’t plan to buy them).
Younger three combined subjects:
History: Memoria Press’ The Story of the 13 Colonies (Judah reads this on his own with the student guide; I read it aloud to the younger three and we look places up on our world map)
All the following subjects are with Classical Village:
Literature read-alouds: The Magician’s Nephew, Owls in the Family, The Blue Fairy Book, Justin Morgan Had a Horse
Science: Chemistry for the Grammar Stage
Geography: Memoria Press States and Capitals
Classical Studies: D’Aulaires’ Book of Greek Myths

Gabe and Amie also do Latin with CV. We really like Song School Latin for younger kids. Noah did both years, so he’s not in formal Latin this year. But he loves learning some of the vocab with his siblings.
