plant exchange (by amie).
Today Mom and I went to a plant exchange at church that our friend Allie organized.
It was so fun. I very much enjoy hanging around with people who love plants. It was a perfect time to share clippings we’ve started, and purge plants and pots we don’t want, and also exchange for different types.
The plant ball in the picture bellow is a fun craft you can do with your plant clippings! Isn’t it cute?
There were lots of plants. My Mom and I said we wanted to get rid of plants and only bring a few home. Yeah, we definitely brought more then a few home!
There was a cute bulletin board for people to share tips and tricks about plants and pots. It’s so fun to share tips with people.
When we arrived home, Mom and I were very excited to sort the goodies we received at the exchange. We spent a happy hour potting and rearranging plants, plus it was gorgeous weather! I found lots of succulents to add to my windowsill collection. Also there was a Chinese Money Plant and I traded for it. I’ve wanted one of those for awhile.
There was a dying plant at church and we brought it home to nurse it back to life. It was root-bound so I think it will thrive after being re-potted. We are the Gentino plant hospital!
Our dog, Kira, was thrilled that we were outside with her. Her new joy is to eat potting soil. What a stinker!
My Mom and I use Dad’s workshop as our potting station. It’s so fun to pot plants side by side in front of the huge window, while chatting about where we will put them and how pretty they look.
We also like to steal one another’s plants. Our tactics are: we sneak the plant we want from the other person, without asking, and stick it in the spot we want it in. Then we show the other person how cute it looks there and usually they agree that it does look SO cute and give in!
I’m embarrassed to say how many house plants we have in our house, front, and back porches. We have 105! I am not ashamed to say we are 100% plant nerds. It is me and my Mom’s hobby and we love to propagate and share them as gifts and help people start their own collections.
They are so beautiful!
