milo’s first bath (by amie).

I clean Milo’s cage about every two weeks. Noah holds Milo for me, and then Gabe helps me take everything out of the cage and empty the old bedding into the compost. He also keeps me company while I clean. The important part is the payment. Thankfully, I can take care of that! I have my own candy stash in my closet from Valentine’s and Christmas, so I can easily pick some candy and hand it to my brothers. They are quite satisfied with that!

Yesterday we also gave Milo a bath. Did you know that you have to give guinea pigs baths? I didn’t!

It was a quite fun experience, at least for me. Milo . . . not so much.

First, we had to get a dollar store bucket, and fill it with water. The way to tell if the water is warm enough is if you think it would feel nice for your own bath. Then, we put Milo in the bucket, and I held his head up with my hand. Once he was wet all over (except for his eyes), we lathered him with shampoo. We cleaned his stomach, the bottom of his feet, his back, and behind his ears.

Milo squeaked and squeaked! He tried to escape, but me and Mom did not let that happen!

Then we rinsed him off and lathered him again. After a final rinse, we dried him off. I used an old towel and rubbed him all over. Then Mom let me use her hair dryer, and we tried to dry him. He really didn’t like the hair dryer, because of the noise. He kept trying to climb up my shirt. He obviously wasn’t happy with me!

We did this for several minutes, then I rubbed him with a towel again. He was shivering, so I was trying to get him warm. I also brushed him. He smelled sooo good!
