last day of school.
last day of school.

Judah’s last day of preschool was on Thursday. The school year here runs from July through March, which is a bit of adjustment. But it’s so hot already that it definitely feels like summer time.
We had a wonderful experience at Little Elly. The first month was heart-breaking with lots of tears, but once Judah adjusted, he loved it. Judah clearly loves his teachers, especially the school coordinator, Bandana, pictured below. We suspect he is spoiled rotten, as South Asians generally do with young children, but it is good to see him adjust to a South Asian environment and way of doing things.
It was fun to sit and debrief with Bandana-aunty on Thursday about Judah’s progresses. In less then four months, he transformed from insecure and aloof to a confident, talkative, playful guy. We are grateful.
We decided to keep Judah in the same “Nursery” level again next year. Because of the way his birthday falls, it is our decision which class to put him in, and just as if he were at school in the U.S., we prefer for him to stay back and be one of the oldest in his class rather than the youngest. And it matters even more here in South Asia where school tends to be a higher-pressure environment. This means next year will once again involve primarily play time, and learning the alphabet and some basic hand writing as well.
David had a lunch appointment after school, so the kids and I went to The Donut Baker to celebrate.
