gabe is 7!
Gabe turned 7 years old on Sunday!
In our family, you get to choose whatever you want for birthday breakfast (bagels, Mom’s homemade cinnamon rolls, etc). Gabe chose Chocolate Lucky Charms. Which just made me laugh. Hey, it made my morning simpler!
The birthday kid gets measured by Dad first, and we learned Gabe grew 1 1/2 inches this year. Then he opened presents. The kids get two gifts from David and me, and this year we started having the older kids give gifts too, which has been fun. We offer to match whatever of their own money they use for a gift.
Gabe was excited about his new scooter, took it outside, immediately fell and skinned both knees, and hasn’t been on it since! Sigh. In the meantime, Noah is enjoying it.
Here’s my attempt at a sibling photo before church.
It just so happened that I was scheduled to help with Gabe’s children’s church class, which was fun. Those kindergarten through 1st graders are my very favorite age to teach.
Because Gabe’s birthday fell on a Sunday (which are busy days for us), he’s having a sort of rolling birthday all week, with a party with family and friends on Friday evening. He doesn’t seem disappointed at all by the prospect!
We walked down to Grandpa and Mum Mum’s in the afternoon for another gift: this Pokemon card set was definitely the hit of the day!
Some serious card-trading followed. (And David, Judah, and Grandpa might have sneaked off to watch the new Han Solo movie)
We finished the day with a youth group family cook-out with friends from church. A great time was had by all!
Happy birthday, Gabey!!
We can’t believe you’re seven!! (To put it in perspective, Judah was 7 when we adopted the boys, and Amie was Noah’s age: 5)
