Miss Amelie turned a year and a half yesterday.
She is known by our team as “the laid back one” of the six children. She is sweet-as-sugar charming and easy to entertain.
She is happy ninety percent of the time, but when you cross her, you’re gonna get it. She has strong opinions and a fierce temper and has been known to hit her head against walls or tile floors during temper tantrums. Judah responds by bursting into tears when someone hurts him, but Amie’s first reaction is to hit back. Spankings hurt her feelings excruciatingly, and she is quick to apologize and to forgive.
She is very affectionate, but does not like people who “smother” her, try to pick her up, or shower her with kisses uninvited. If you give her space and let her warm up to you in her own time, she’ll light up with delight and reach for you to pick her up every time you come around.
She loves girly things like purses, jewelry, and watching mommy put on make-up. But her passion is shoes. Especially Crocs.
She is rough-and-tumble, loves wrestling with daddy, plays outside any chance she gets, and loves to get dirty.
She is a talker, and will jabber a mile-a-minute to anyone who will listen. Most of it is still unintelligible, but her vocabulary is growing every day. Some words include, “Mommy,” “Daddy”, “ball”, “bottle” (“bobble”), “gentle” (ja-dle”), “hot”, “please”, “thank you”, “sorry”, “fart” (thanks, Judah), “bye-bye”, “baby” (for her favorite blankie), “shoes”, “what’s that?”, “where’s daddy?”, and some animal sounds. She still barks when she sees cows and meows when she sees bugs.
She is very social. If we get together with friends of any age, you can usually find Judah playing by himself and Amie right in the mix. She loves her brother, but already knows how to get his goat – usually by running up and grabbing his toys and then cracking up.
She will eat almost anything and is a terrific sleeper.
She loves dancing, bubble baths, a bottle of cold milk before bed, and watching college football with daddy.
She hates being left out of the action, waiting for her food, and watching mommy hold another baby.
She’s our baby and our big girl, and we love her like crazy.
