boat trip.

On our last day, we hired a boat and driver to take us touring around Tioman.  Our driver looked like he was twelve and didn’t speak a lick of English — or even attempt to pantomime what sorts of things we would be doing, so we kind of looked at it as a boat surprise trip.

First stop: Coral Island (about an hour’s boat ride from Tioman), where we had our own private beach for swimming and snorkeling.  The sand and water here remind me so much of Barbados.

We also had our own private iguana.

Next we went back to Tioman for some more snorkeling.  The reefs here were incredible.

The kids enjoyed a nap while we swam.

We stopped at a village for some lunch.

To my knowledge, the villages on Tioman Island are all built around resorts.

Choosing the perfect ice cream bar.

Next we stopped at the marina to feed fish.  This was Judah and Amie’s favorite part of the day.  They loved watching the hundreds of fish swimming around the boat, and feeding them our peanut-butter and jelly sandwich.

Our driver.  Cool guy.

Our last stop was a dock for swimming and snorkeling.  David was the only one brave enough to swim here, because there was swarms of fish and they nibble on you.  Yikes.

It was a happy day.  We got back just in time to beat a rainstorm.  What fun memories.
