two weeks.

So the word is out, and I’ve been wanting to write a blog post about going home.

But I don’t know what to say.

Right now it’s too hard to think of what (and who) we’re leaving.  As my friend Alison would say, “I don’t have the emotional fortitude for that.”  So I won’t.

Instead, I’ll tell you five things of the things I’m looking forward to.

1.  Clean.  I may kneel down and kiss the Columbia Airport floor.  And shed a few tears.  You think I’m kidding.  Clean, clean, clean.  I want to wrap myself up in clean.

2.  Family.  Oh, we miss them.  Every single day.  I will reacquaint myself with my niece and three nephews.  I will be their new best friend.

3.  Drive.  For the first time in a whole year, I will drive a car!  I had to explain to Judah and Amie the other day that I actually do know how to drive and plan to whenever I want at home.  I also had to remind them about car seats (and we’re expecting more than a few temper tantrums from a certain two-year-old).

4.  Library.  I will go to the Richland County Public Library and let my kids pick as many books as Shari’s library card holds.  I’ll print off the Simply Charlotte Mason reading list.  We will sit together in a huge pile of books and read.  And we’ll go back the next week.

5.  Food.  Where do I even begin?  Will I start at the Gourmet Shop or at San Jose’s or at the Publix deli?  These are questions I lay awake and contemplate at night when the stress gets too great.  I will eat cheese.  Good cheese.  And avocadoes.  I will rinse my apple under the tap and bite into it without soaking it in bleach water first.  I will bake cookies with real chocolate chips.  Anybody want to come over and eat them with me?

But more than anything, too big to even write on this list: I’m looking forward to getting better (please, please, Lord).

Two weeks from today.

This sums up how we’re all feeling nowadays.
