holidays

great wolf lodge.

We wanted to do a family “experience” for Christmas this year, so some friends recommended an overnight at The Great Wolf Lodge in Charlotte. It’s a forest-themed hotel with a huge indoor water park, bowling alley, arcades, spa, restaurants, etc, all geared for kids. It’s very overwhelming. But Judah and Amie loved it and had the time of their lives.

We really went for the water park, which they couldn’t get enough of. Judah was tall enough to ride all of the water slides but one, and once he worked up the courage to try them, that’s all he wanted to do. David and I were sore from hours of walking up flights of stairs! Amie enjoyed the wave pool, the “snake” pool, and the “kiddie-cat” pool, as she called them.

At 8:00 pm each night there is Story Time in the front lobby. All the kids come in their pj’s, and there is a forest creature musical (during which the kids learn to open up their spirit and not be afraid of the wild animals in the forest). Since it’s Christmas, the lobby was decked out, and they had a real snowfall after the show! Judah and Amie got their first chance to sit on Santa’s lap and tell him what they want for Christmas. Judah: “A robot and a camera,” and Ams: “A Barbie and a train table.”

A grand time was had by all!

Annie SO wants to go to the one near us. We haven’t gotten up the energy yet. Cute Santa pics in their new jammies. 🙂
Are Ams and David watching a cooking show? Was part of the exccitement the 4,000 channels on TV? I know that’s what I like when I travel!

Pat I can guarantee the place will not be your cup of tea … but it will be Annie’s! 🙂 Yes, we love cable tv in hotel rooms–my choice is always the Food Network!
